Abstract
We have witnessed the necessity of collaboration in massively distributed computing systems, e.g., the PlanetLab experimental platform for distributed systems, P2P file sharing for fast information dissemination, cooperative caching for We b content delivery, collaborative high performance computing for scientific computing, and so on. In such an open computing environment, we need to answer the following two questions: How to pick up the nodes with good quality? and how to introduce incentives for the cooperation? In this talk, I will present our recent work that combines the trust management and currency model to address these two questions. First, we propose aPET, an adaptive PErsonalized Trust model which combines the self experience and rating to derive the trustworthiness. With the help of aPET, we employ the trustworthiness information to discover the reliable and trustable cooperators, so to bring the high quality of the cooperation. Second, we propose M-CUBE, a multiple-currency based economic model, which lays the foundation for heterogeneous resource sharing in non-cooperative environment. M-CUBE applies the concept of currency issuing, resource pricing, and currency exchange ratio to bring the incentives to the cooperation, and help for system management in large scale systems. Finally, I will present a comprehensive analysis of the effects of ratings on trust inference in open environments. Two case studies, ISP Peering and Grid Resource and system management will be presented along the talk.

施巍松, 男, 博士生导师, 美国韦恩州立大学计算机科学系助理教授， 移动和因特网系统实验室主任。1995年7月毕业于西安电子科技大学计算机系，并被免试推荐到中国科学院计算技术研究所硕博连读，师从于著名计算机科学家夏培肃院士。 2000年 1月在计算所获得博士学位。他的研究兴趣包括高性能计算, 分布式系统, 移动计算和传感器网络。施巍松博士在相关领域的高级杂志和会议上发表了80多篇论文。 他的博士论文2002年被评为全国百篇优秀博士论文, 并被高等教育出版社出版。施巍松博士是多个国际学术会议的程序委员会委员, 他还被邀请为2004, 2005, 2006 和 2008年世界WWW年会的合作主席（Poster-Track and Tutorial track)。他是2006国际系统和网络安全研讨会的主席, 2007第一届国际大规模分布系统中信任(trust)和声望(reputation)管理研讨会的创办人。 施巍松博士是中国第一届微软学者获得者 (1999), 中国科学院院长特别奖学金的获得者 (2000) 。 另外, 他还两次获得韦恩州立大学“教职员研究奖” (2004, 2005), IFIP Web 工程会议的最佳论文奖 (ICWE’ 2004), IEEE国际并行和分布处理会议的最佳论文奖(IPDPS 2005)。2007年他获得了美国国家科学基金会的杰出青年教授奖(NSF CAREER Award)。
